A new iOS 17 leak details some of the changes we might see in the iPhone department later this year, including some major app revisions.

Apple launched iOS 16 publicly at the end of 2022. Since then, it has been working on 16.x to fix remaining bugs and introduce some of the announced missing features. Meanwhile, Cupertino engineers have also been developing this year’s next operating system update – iOS 17. Although iOS version updates rarely leak before an official reveal, there have been some exceptions. And it looks like this year’s planned release is one of them.

Based on a HowToSolve report by the reliable LeaksAppleProiOS 17 (code name Dawn) may not contain many visual changes. This is quite expected, as previous rumors suggested that Apple would redistribute some of its resources to focus on the mixed reality headset. However, the leaker has now shared some new information regarding iOS 17 changes. These could include some major changes to the Music app, especially when it comes to in-app navigation.

Besides music, the leaker says the Home app will get a noticeable overhaul. This is in addition to minor changes to the Find My, Mail, Reminders, Files, Fitness, and Wallet apps. Unsurprisingly, iOS 17 might also introduce a new app to support the rumored AR/VR headset. Although the leak doesn’t include a lot of details, we can assume that this app is for tweaking headset settings and customizing its experience.

Apart from these universal features of iOS 17, the code of this operating system may have revealed some specifications regarding the upcoming iPhone 15 series. If the information is correct, all iPhone 15 models will indeed be equipped with of Dynamic Island and USB Type-C. However, it looks like only two iPhone 15 models, presumably the 15 Pro and 15 Ultra, will support the faster USB 3.2 transfer speeds. So lower-end iPhone 15 models might adopt a USB-C port while missing the speed improvements.

Finally, it looks like Apple is giving the iPhone 15 Ultra more exclusives this year by including more advanced image processing software. The iPhone 15 Pro could potentially miss out on this addition as the company attempts to differentiate between the two models.
