With a bouquet of flowers in hand, Vice President Harris visited the Star Dance Studio in Monterey Park and paid tribute to community members who lost their lives in Sunday’s mass shooting.
Harris spoke only briefly to the press, calling for further changes to prevent mass shootings like the one in Monterey Park that claimed the lives of 11 people. Harris said she would meet with local law enforcement officials, lawmakers and family members of the deceased.
Sunday’s mass shooting at the Star Dance Studio became the deadliest mass shooting in Los Angeles County, surpassing the Covina massacre in 2008.
After Harris’ visit, a vigil was held outside the dance studio for the victims of the mass shooting. Tonight marks the third night in a row that a vigil has been held in Monterey Park, as local residents continue to mourn in the wake of the tragedy.
