Welcome to the Emoni Bates show. That’s what those who tuned in to Tuesday night’s college basketball game between Toledo and Eastern Michigan were treated as the former top prospect broke for a career-high 43 points – including 29 straight for EMU – in an 84-79 loss to the Rockets.

The Memphis transfer and former five-star rookie hit nine 3-pointers in the loss, and Bates entered the locker room with 29 of Eastern Michigan’s 35 points at halftime as the Eagles trailed Toledo 36-35. And even though his team didn’t come out on top, it was Bates who ultimately won the night.

Going into Tuesday night’s game, 247Sports’ top-ranked transfer in the 2022 class was averaging 19.3 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, improving his shooting percentages across the board.
